Under the direct supervision of the Medical Manager, the Health Facility Supervisor is responsible for:

Follow-up of MdM’s medical activities  

  • Ensure that all health activities at the field level meet MdM standards as per protocols and guidelines
  • Consistently monitor the healthcare situation in the areas of intervention, or any other areas upon request
  • Ensure the rational use of antibiotics, including proper management and treatment of identified illnesses
  • Provide inputs to Medical Manager to ensure that the different components of the program are consistent and in link with the health needs of the population
  • Be available for medical consultations in case of emergency to cover the needs of medical doctor
  • Participate in any MDM sensitization activities in the community if needed



Supervision / capacity building

  • Conduct regular field supervisions and provide the feedback to the concerned staffs (MdM and DOH Staff)
  • Evaluate the quality of consultations and care by assessing all medical doctors and nurses
  • Identify the training needs of medical staff, participate in conducting trainings, follow up and evaluations as requested from Medical Manager
  • Provide on the job training for medical staffs (doctors and nurses) in regular basis
  • Answer to medical issues/questions from the medical team and refer to the Medical Manager as necessary
  • Realize monthly audit of the activities regarding diagnosis and treatment i.e appropriateness rate evaluation
  • Update oneself on current global standard in PHC care and on preventive and to share this with the medical teams through in-house lecture sessions, attend identified trainings as needed


Team management

  • Act as the direct line manager of MdM's PHC doctors and other paramedics/nurses in MDM health facilities
  • Manage the organization of the MdM team by anticipating leaves and according to the needs of the activities
  • Ensure that each member of the team fulfills his/her respective responsibilities efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure the MdM principles and regulations (condition of employment, code of conduct etc) are respected by all staffs
  • Collaborate with human resources staffs in respect of MdM regulations: leave request approval, attendance sheet, disciplinary interviews, appraisals and setting objectives
  • Report any HR issues to the Medical manager
  • Implement and share regular MdM coordination /weekly meetings at PHCC level


Data Collection and Reporting

  • Ensure the team respects the data collection process and provide regular inputs to Monitool as defined by MdM
  • Coordinate closely with M&E officer to ensure quality program information are documented
  • Provide weekly and monthly summary of activities to Medical Manager
  • Provide short summary of any meeting attended


Communication /representation

  • Attend monthly base meeting, technical team meetings and other program related meetings/workshops
  • Work in collaboration with DOH Staff (PHCC Manager/district DoH) in MdM areas of intervention
  • Maintain regular contacts with other medical NGOs and organizations, through meetings, training, workshops, etc.
  • Collaborate and participate, in any field survey, data collection and/or needs assessment organized by MDM in relation to health
  • Represent MdM as requested by Medical manager or Health Program Coordinator
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • Registered medical doctor with MBChB or equivalent degree recognized in Iraq
  • Minimum 3 years  of professional experiences as a medical doctor
  • Strong organization and managerial skills
  • At least 1 year experience as supervisor /team leader 
  • Experience in emergency department, Nutrition program, immunization activities and (SRH activities) would be appreciated
  • Fluent English and Arabic, Kurdish is an asset
