Description

Purpose of the position:  to Support the Field Coordinator through the collection of information and context analysis.

Main Activities:

Under the supervision and responsibility of the Field Coordinator

Objective/Assignment 1: Collect, analyze and convey Information about the local Political and Security situation as well as context changes

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Collect and record local information related to security and context changes
  • Analyse the information and convey the information and analysis to the Field Coordinator
  • Monitor the local & national press and relevant Arabic language websites, and produce a press review and regular context analysis
  • Produce regular reporting (daily, weekly) on security incidents in ACF’s areas of operations and analyse patterns
  • Participate in the organization of security meetings when necessary/requested for ACF Staff
  • Develop and maintain an effective network of local sources on contextual and security matters
  • Report and provide information to the Access and Security Advisor when required

Objective/Assignment 2: Participate in the Development of Security Management Tools

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Participate in the update of ACF security management documents (databases, maps, locations of ACF buildings/activities…) for the base
  • Support the dissemination of the tools and sensitize the national staff about these tools/documents/measures
  • Following a security incident involving ACF, collect information, analyse causes, make recommendations on security management actions to be taken, and assist in implementing and monitoring actions decided and validated by Field Coordinator.

Objective/Assignment 3: Give support to ensure ACF staff are briefed on security environment, procedures and rules

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • When requested by the Field Coordinator, brief new ACF staff on security risks and procedures applicable in areas of intervention
  • Participate in security sensitization and training session for the staff and ensure they are aware of security environment, procedures and rules
  • Assist in the organization of internal or external trainings on security issues

Objective/Assignment 4: Develop and maintain good relationships with local security stakeholders (NGOs, Security bodies, authorities…)

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Develop, build and maintain a network of interlocutors with all the stakeholders (security forces, UN agencies, NGOs, administration…)
  • Facilitate the Field Coordinator’s representation of ACF among partners, and different authorities;
  • Participate in meetings with authorities and local leaders, ensure translation when needed and submit report.
  • Keep a complete and updated detailed list of all useful contacts with names, telephones, addresses and other relevant details
Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Recruitment Criteria:

  • Required Education/Level of studies: BACHELOR’S DEGREE preferably or equivalent Level University Qualification in Risk Management and/or International Studies and/or Political Sciences and/or Journalism or equivalent and relevant professional experience
  • Professional experience: Experience in context and data analysis, reports writing, as well a good insight/understanding of security bodies and issues - Experience on a similar position and/or with an international NGO highly appreciated.

 

Required Technical skills:

  • Very Good knowledge of Local Political and Security Context, Authorities and General Official Administration procedures and processes.
  • Very Good Translation Skills (English, Arabic)
  • Very Good Written Reporting skills

General and Managerial required Skills

  • Very Good Organization Skills - Diligence - Rigour - Autonomy - Flexibility – Good Analytical and Summarizing Skills – High sense of Confidentiality - High Sense of Neutrality and Impartiality

Required IT Skills:

  • Very good IT skills (word, excel, power point, outlook, google earth, google map…)

Language Requirements:

  • Arabic: Fluent spoken & written
  • English: Good spoken & written
