About BCF
Barzani Charity Foundation is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization, founded in 2005 in Erbil, the capital city of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). (Mr Masrour Barzani) is the head of BCF’s board of founders and directly oversees the activities of the foundation.
The increasing activities of the BCF in the area of humanitarian response has given credibility to the foundation in relation to reputable intergovernmental and international organizations which resulted in increased cooperation and coordination between the BCF and other humanitarian parties. These factors also led the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to grant the BCF a Consultative Status in April 2016.
The BCF provides humanitarian assistance to IDPs, refugees and host communities in (11) different sectors, namely Food, Non-food, WASH, Health, Protection, Education, Orphan Care, Livelihood, Disabled Care, Special Projects and Coordination.
The BCF has been named after the legendary Kurdish leader Mustafa Barzani (1903 -1979). The working philosophy of the foundation is based on a statement by Barzani which says “It is an honor for a man to serve his own people.” Humanity, therefore, makes the center for the BCF’s humanitarian work.
The BCF’s headquarter is located in Erbil and it has branch offices in Erbil, Duhok, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, Mosul, Sinjar and Garmiyan. The BCF, in cooperation EJCC, also manages (11) camps within Erbil Governorate. It also maintains offices and representatives at all other camps in the KRI. The foundation has also the official license to operate in the USA.
