Our mission is to save lives through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, especially during and after emergency situations and conflict. Action Against Hunger intervenes in four main areas: Nutrition, Mental Health & Care Practices; Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Food Security and Livelihoods; Advocacy and Raising Awareness.

 Action Against Hunger is looking for Four (4) Community Mobilizer in Basra.

 Work place: Based in Basra city with frequent travels to ACF areas of intervention.

 Type of contract:  8 months Fixed-Term contract with possibility of extension.

 Working Hours: Full Time Contract of minimum 40 hours per week up to a maximum of 48 hours per week

 Monthly Gross Salary:  1,318,739 IQD

 Benefits: Monthly Transport Allowance (130,000 IQD) + Medical Insurance + End of Year Benefit (30% of basic salary per year) + 24 days per year of annual leaves.

 Purpose of the position:  To contribute to mobilize and empower the targeted population and overall stakeholders involved towards the project goal and ensure the correct implementation of the project activities.

 

Specific Objectives:

 

Objective / Assignment 1: Mobilize and empower members of the beneficiary communities:

 

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Ø  Participate in developing assessment process and community self-assessment material/tools together with the  Head of project;

Ø  Mobilize together under the supervision of the Head of project the local communities and other stakeholders towards the main goals of the project

Ø  Participate in developing training modules and adapted teaching material together with the Head of project and PM;

Ø  Facilitate the empowering of the main beneficiaries in the organisation and follow up of local committees works

Ø  Facilitate the organisation of capacity building sessions to community leaders and/or target populations;

Ø  Schedule activities and follow up

Ø  Write a summary report of activities;

Ø  Propose possible improvements.

 

Objective / Assignment 2: Represent the Organization when liaising with partners:

Responsibilities and Tasks:

 

Ø  Present, under the supervision of the Head of project, the project to various local stakeholder and share with them the strong bottom-up and local actors ownership of the process;

Ø  Establish links with local training centres, private companies, local authorities and any other relevant local partners  

 

 

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Qualification/Degree/Level of Studies

Lower High School Leaving Certificate or professional experience

Professional Experience

2-3 years of work experience in a similar and relevant field (livelihood) at community-based level

Technical Skills

Ability in planning of activities

Good organizational capacity

Capable of drafting short reports

Capable to handle with diplomacy complex community mobilization processes with both men and women

Knowledge of livelihood concept

Knowledge of gender-based approach

Able to involve beneficiaries in the processes put in place

General Skills

Good writing capacity and interpersonal skills

Capacity to manage priorities

Ability to analyze and synthesize

Good organizational skills
