Generic responsibilities

1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
2. Assist a range of support with the implementation of the CC portfolio according to plan of action
3. Implements independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated
4. Responsible for organising and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards
5. Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work in which technical assistance and support is being provided, in order to be most effective in supporting the team
6. Use initiative in day to day problem solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the area of work
7. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
8. Ensure proper filing of documents
9. Promote and share ideas for improvement in your area of expertise

Specific responsibilities

1. To assist in the implementation of education activities under direction of the Education Officer
2. Supervise education incentive staff and provide support to them in line with program objectives
3. Provide support to NRC activities, schools and incentive staff in line with NRC quality standards
4. Ensure direct communication and feedback with beneficiaries and relevant host communities
5. Ensure ongoing monitoring and reporting of projects at field level
6. Organize, support and participate in Mother’s Group, parents teach association (PTA), camp and community-level meetings as well as outreach activities
7. Organize, support, and facilitate teacher training, education personnel training, and training of trainers (ToT) training on subjects including pedagogy, teacher wellbeing, curriculum, child protection, and psychosocial support.
8. Regularly travel to the field to support education, recreation and psycho-social support (PSS) activities
9. Participate in assessments (design, data collection)
10. Organize and implement distributions of teaching and learning materials
11. Any other task relevant to the position as requested by line manager

Generic professional competencies:

• Experience from working as an Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context
• Knowledge and experience within a relevant administration, craft or technical field and ideally a relevant vocational qualification
• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
• Some knowledge of English

Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

• Understanding of the circumstances, needs and challenges trauma-affected children face
• Understanding of the role of education in meeting the needs of trauma-affected children
• Understanding of SPHERE and/or INEE minimum standards
• Knowledge of the basics of Child Protection and/or psychosocial support

• Experience working with children and/or educators; MoE-level experience a plus
• Experience in community mobilization and/or relationship building
• Candidates with a university and/or advanced degree preferred
