Assignment

 

We currently have an open position for a Database Officer in Iraq. Working under the direct supervision of the Operations Coordinator and IMPACT Field Officer, the IMPACT Database Officer will be primarily responsible for the timely and successful implementation of data cleaning by the IMPACT call centre based in Baghdad.

 

Specifically, the responsibilities for this role include:

  1. Working in collaboration with the IMPACT Field Officer to track data collection progress and ensure proper data management in line with IMPACT guidelines
  2. Conducting data cleaning to ensure data quality management during and after data collection cycles by the call centre team
  3. Supporting the IMPACT Field Officer in the day-to-day management of a team of enumerators to ensure smooth and effective collection of assessment data for IMPACT’s post-distribution monitoring (PDM) project
  4. Assisting with any other tasks related to data collection by the IMPACT PDM call centre

The position is based in the IMPACT PDM call centre in Baghdad. When available and required, the IMPACT Database Officer may support with other IMPACT/REACH data collection activities.

Functions

 

  1. Working in collaboration with the IMPACT Field Officer to track data collection progress and ensure proper data management in line with IMPACT guidelines
  • In collaboration with the IMPACT Field Officer, ensuring data collection is conducted in line with project timelines by tracking progress of data collection on a daily basis.
  • Regularly communicating on progress, and if relevant, any delays in data collection to the IMPACT Field Officer and PDM assessment team.
  • Managing beneficiary lists in line with IMPACT’s data privacy and management guidelines, including the distribution of lists to enumerators for data collection purposes and destroying them once data collection has been completed.
  • Coordinating with the PDM assessment team on proper compilation and sharing of raw data, in line with IMPACT guidelines on data privacy and management guidelines.

 

  1. Conducting data cleaning to ensure data quality management during and after data collection cycles by the PDM call centre team
  • Compiling and daily cleaning of raw data, ensuring that all changes made to original data are properly logged for ease of follow-up by the PDM assessment team.
  • Following up with PDM call centre enumerators during and after data collection about any identified issues or errors to ensure data quality.
  • Communicating any issues or needed changes to data collection tools during and after data collection cycles to the PDM assessment team.

 

  1. Supporting the IMPACT Field Officer in the day-to-day management of a team of enumerators to ensure smooth and effective collection of assessment data for IMPACT’s PDM project
    • Training PDM enumerators as needed on project methodologies and data collection methods, in close coordination with the IMPACT Field Officer and PDM assessment team.
    • Building the capacity of the PDM call centre team by working with each enumerator individually to address issues faced during data collection, as flagged during the data cleaning process, as well as for general improvement to ensure the team functions in a cohesive and positive manner.
    • Supporting PDM call centre enumerators in all aspects of their daily activities, including administrative and logistical support.  
    • Communicating any team-related needs and issues if and when they arise to the IMPACT Field Officer.

 

  1. Assisting with any other tasks related to data collection by the IMPACT PDM call centre team:
    • Working in close coordination with the IMPACT Field Officer and PDM assessment team in developing and testing tools for data collection, specifically ODK and Kobo. 
  • Translating data collection tools and relevant documents as needed.
  • Attending any trainings as request by line manager(s).
Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, patience and willingness to support and work as part of a team
  • Ability to work independently with initiative, and strong capacity to work in an intercultural team
  • Excellent skills and experience using Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good command and ability to use android smartphones
  • Good understanding of Kobo and ODK tools and servers
  • Openness to feedback and willingness to learn is essential
  • Flexibility and adaptability to ever-changing needs and responsibilities
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Good command of Kurdish, Arabic and English are required

Background in working in a humanitarian context preferred
