Justice Center Organization (JCO) is a non-profit, non-government and independent national organization, founded in 2010,  dedicated to working towards the protection and advancement of Human Rights through legal service provision for all members of societies in Iraq and Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). JCO supports the needs of Iraqi IDPs, returnees and Host Community women, men, and children in self-determination and self-resilience with hope and dignity. JCO’s work focuses on Protection, Housing, Landing, Property (HLP) rights, Civil Documentation, GBV, CP, PSS, projects in collaboration with INGOs, UN agencies, and international and local governments.

Job Purpose

The main activities of this project are providing various legal services to beneficiaries and raising legal awareness in general.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily field visits to identify legal needs to beneficiaries

  • Provides legal awareness sessions, based on previously identified needs, to the communities, mainly on civil documentation.

  • Provide individual counseling to beneficiaries and advise on options to solve their particular legal problem.
  • Provide legal representation in court.

  • Prepare and send daily/weekly field reports to line Manager.

  • Archive all legal cases in individual files.

  • Coordinates with all relevant stakeholders (Local authority, NGOs, etc.) to ensure the effective implementation of protection activities.

  • Participate in relevant coordination meetings, including the Protection/Legal Working Group, with sub-clusters and working groups covering

Qualifications & Preferred Skills


  • Bachelor's degree in Law.

  • Member of Iraq Bar Association.

  • At least 3 years’ experience in practicing law.

  • Experience in working with IDPs, returnees, and host-community

  • Belief in human rights including gender equality.

  • Practical experience of MS office applications.

  • Strong communications and internal personals skills
