Justice Center Organization (JCO) is a non-profit, non-government and independent national organization, founded in 2010, dedicated to working towards the protection and advancement of Human Rights through legal service provision for all members of societies in Iraq and Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). JCO supports the needs of Iraqi IDPs, returnees and Host Community women, men, and children in self-determination and self-resilience with hope and dignity. JCO’s work focuses on Protection, Housing, Landing, Property (HLP) rights, Civil Documentation, GBV, CP, PSS, projects in collaboration with INGOs, UN agencies, and international and local governments.

Job Purpose:

The main activities of this project are providing various legal services to beneficiaries and raising legal awareness in general. The Protection Assistant is responsible for follow up on project activities in the areas of operations and liaison with the community, beneficiaries and project staff and will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of all child protection programme.

Roles and responsibilities

- Work to build close relationships with affected communities and beneficiaries.

- Collect and maintain project data ensuring the highest standards of data protection and confidentiality.

- Arrange all necessary logistics for project activities in the field of protection.

- Report to the project manager in day to day protection activities.

- Collect the necessary questionnaires in writing and electronic form.

- Commitment to the confidentiality of beneficiaries' information.

- Collaborate in Internal/External Coordination and Representation with cluster and forum to address protection issues

- Identification of the protection issues and concerns faced by the IDPs, returnees and host community to regular field visits.

- Identify and develop the referral contact sheets of different services providers in the area.

- Produce high quality and timely reports for Justice Center and donors within agreed deadlines.

- Provide individual, needs-based assistance to IDP families based on internal guidelines developed by Justice Center

- Support field staff with document translation of project activities for audit purposes

Qualifications & Preferred Skills


  • Bachelor degree in relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of working experience in a social service or development sector
  • Good understanding of humanitarian work.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and Facilitation Skills.
  • Good computer skills (Excel, Microsoft, PowerPoint, Outlook, ODK and kobo collect)
  • Good command of using English and local language is required.
