arche noVa - Initiative for People in Need is a non-religious, independent non-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO) with Headquarters in Germany. We work in the field of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development with the main focus on WASH sector and Livelihood.
Globally, arche noVa currently works in twelve countries. Since 2013, we have been implementing projects for IDPs, returnees and host communities in Northern Iraq and Kurdistan (Diyala, Sulaymaniyah and Kirkuk Governorate).
arche noVa in Iraq provides WASH and Livelihood services in Diyala, Kirkuk and Salah Al-Din governorates. Over and above that, we also provide WASH services and support out- of-camps by rehabilitating, inter alia, WASH facilities in schools and primary health centers, as well as improving water and sewage systems in villages. arche noVa is further expanding on these WASH support activities through a more sustainable long-term and holistic approach focused on community engagement, capacity-building and livelihood diversification in the agricultural sector and livestock, yet always continuing to keep WASH at its core.  
arche noVa co-leads the WASH and Livelihood Sub-National cluster in Sulaymaniyah and Kirkuk Governorates and the WASH Working Group in Northern Diyala Governorate. arche noVa is also a member of ABC in Kirkuk Governorate.
Objectives of the position:
The duties assigned to employee are as indicated in the following Job Description. However, they can be amended at the discretion of the management and the agreement of the employee. The employee may also be required to perform other functions, which are within his capacity, skills, aptitude and knowledge without additional remuneration. 
Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Perform and oversee day to day accounting.
  • Prepare of monthly, quarterly and annual reports for different stakeholders.
  • Acting as a point of contact for AN staff in Iraq for finance queries and providing financial support to team members, ensuring that the policies and procedures of AN are upheld.
  • Ensuring that complete and accurate accounting records for all transactions are maintained, and accounting software is updated and reviewed in a timely manner. 
  • Conduct month end closure procedure and update accounting software system.
  • Managing with banking operations, including setting up accounts, updating mandates/signatories, making payments, and reconciling accounts
  • Processing and making payments to suppliers, vendors and contracts and salaries.
  • Maintains appropriate filing of financial records, and ensures proper backup of all files.
  • Preparation of Bank Reconciliations of bank in relevant field office.
  • Preparation of Tax quarter reports/payments and annual reconciliations of Tax for KRI.
  • Support and follow-up contractual engagements (rental, vehicles)
  • Managing records and receipts of relevant field office payments and advances.
  • Adhere to arche noVa’s and donors’ policies and procedures.
  • Conducting internal and/or external audit preparations as required.
  • Produces invoices and ensures they contain the necessary information to facilitate timely payment. 
  • Process and prepare financial and business forms for the purpose of checking account balances, facilitating purchases, etc.;
  • Assist Finance Coordinator and executives with projects and tasks when required.
  • Perform any additional duties within the scope of the Finance Departments’ requirements, which may be assigned by the supervisor. 
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in Finance, Accounting or any other related field.
  • Experience in international NGOs in preferred;
  • Experience in financial databases. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration or related fields;
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel);
  • Ability to work efficiently, under pressure and adapt to difficult conditions.
  • Planning and organizational skills;
  • Conflict resolution and negotiations skills;
  • Interpersonal and cross-cultural sensitivity and experience;
  • Must have strong quantitative and analytical skills, verbal skills and ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non‐technical colleagues;
  • Ability to treat individuals with fairness and respect, demonstrating sensitivity for ethnic, cultural and gender differences.
  • Fluency in English, Kurdish and Arabic is required.
